Collecting Quarters for Kenya
Just as children of the United States sent pennies to France to help pay for the Statue of Liberty in 1886, we believe the same American spirit of giving for humanitarian concerns will work to help us collect quarters for AIDS relief in Kenya. Rotary clubs, school groups and individuals can make a difference.
The funds we initially raised in 2005 were delivered to Kenya as part of the Flight of the Spirit of Charles Kean. Although this project was initially designed as a grass roots effort, utilizing the enthusiasm and altruistic dedication of young people, everyone is encouraged to participate.
Collect Quarters in your Community
Residents of the Inland Empire of Southern California initially saw “Quarters for Kenya” donation cans and boxes on the shelves of local shops and restaurants in the Spring of 2005. Since then, school groups, civic organizations, and individuals have joined our effort by supporting young Kenyan children with their loose change. If you are interested in making a larger donation to these boys and girls, please mail a tax deductible check to:

At the bottom of the check, please write Q4K (Quarters for Kenya) and let us know who you are. Remember that 100% of all monies go directly to helping these young children. They are real people and would love to have you visit them if you are ever in Nairobi. You might even want to take a small “care package” along.
Collect Quarters in your School/Classroom as a Donation Project
Dear Teachers,
We feel this project is particularly appropriate for upper elementary and Junior High students to address. This project is striving to save a generation that is their age level. “Saving a Generation” refers to their generation. In Africa, their generation is being tragically wiped out. And not only is it children without parents that we are concerned about, millions of others cannot go to school, because they no longer have teachers to fill the classrooms. For educational systems worldwide, this is a very personal issue.
Thank you for your concern and assistance
The attached PDF documents include sample letters of explanation to teachers and students, information about how to create collection cans for quarters in your classroom, and instructions for submission of your quarters.
